Haptic Signals
'Haptic Signals' is a collection of tactile signals used for visual description for deafblind people. The signals are made discreetly on the back, the shoulder or the upper arm and can be used without disturbing in the middle of a conversation.
By the use of Haptic Signals deafblind people are able to know what is happening in the moment. It can make a world of difference to receive important information like 'food is being served' or the description of a facial expression or a room at the same time as everybody else in the room.
You can find the collection of Haptic Signals on this website and use it exactly like you use an app, by creating a short cut on your mobile phone. You can also buy the book or download a pdf or a word document. All the signals are thoroughly described by text or video and can be learned through self study in cooperation between deafblind and a family member or a translator.
